The MULTI Directional sampler is designed to measure low level airborne particle pollution of a size and range respective of respirable material. It measures particulates being blown by the wind from a predetermined direction. At all other times it measures the background reading for comparison. It is a manual (gravimetric) method.

• Measurement technology: Gravimetric
• Measured Components: airborne particulate
• Power requirements: Mains power, can be supplied for use with either 240V or 110V
The wind is constantly monitored for direction by a wind vane, this is connected to the pump/control box electronically. When the wind remains in within a pre-selected arc for more than 30 seconds, air is drawn trough filter A. The volume of air is recorded by means of a dry gas meter and a timer, the timer is dedicated to channel A. At all other times air is drawn through filter B and the volume measured on the background by a separate timer.
The filters used are standard 37mm diameter 0.8 micron filters.

Benefits:
• The unit is cheap and easy to run
• Parts are readily available and simple to replace.
• No specialised training is required
• The method is an acceptable by the WHO
• Simple gravimetric analysis of the filters means easy analysis is obtainable
